The Szeged Underground Theater, founded in 2001, is the first independent theater of the city. They continuously stage plays written by contemporary playwrights, but also have classical plays on their repertoire, while they also host guest performances and have their own musical band formed by actors. Their school program aims at introducing quality theater to young people while extending their literary knowledge. The theater’s company performs in different independent theaters in Budapest, while also hosting other theatrical troupes.
