Complex of former factory Petar Drapsin – “China Quarter”

The “Chinese Quarter” is part of Novi Sad, located between the Liman Park and the Danube Quay. The factory “Petar Drapsin” once functioned at this location. The beginning of the Industrial district dates back to 1921, when the sale of land at Liman was approved to Kramer Brothers, for the construction of a wire factory and apartments for workers, and to the Office for Foreign Trade of the Czechoslovak Republic for construction of the Warehouse. After the Second World War, the factory “Petar Drapsin” operated here, until 1974 when it had moved to a new location. Subsequently this part of the city gradually became decrepit and deserted. Student Cultural Center Novi Sad uses part of the space for concerts, performances and other events. The revitalization of this quarter is under way in preparation for 2021, when Novi Sad will take the title of the European Capital of Culture.
