In addition to coordinating social, cultural and religious activities, the Mátyás tér Franciscan Parish also took over the operation of a culture house in the building, which was built in the thirties as the community house of the parish, and from the time of nationalization became a complex cultural institution owned by the Hungarian State Railways. The cultural work of the institution had diminished for some time due to the frequent conscriptions of soldiers and the buffet in the house, which began to take on the character of a shot and beer joint with dance events. It was at that time that the public gave it the name Kapca meaning a piece of cloth used in boots, but also slang for a worthless person. In 1999 he came under the authority of the parish and, under the name of Alsóvárosi Kultúrház, and served as a community house for the parish, as well as for organizing cultural activities, workshops, concerts and performances. The Kapca Café-Bistro was opened in 2013, focusing mainly on new-wave street gastronomy, and is one of the pioneers of quality street food restaurants with a selection of craft beers.
